U.S. Coast Guard approved long-lasting, easy-to-carry water supply that is vital in any emergency or disaster situation where the water supply has been disrupted. Packaged to the exacting requirements necessary for use in Coast Guard-approved lifeboats. Each tough triple-layered retort pouch holds 4.227 fl. oz. (125 mil.) of water and will store for a minimum of 5 years (we think it will store for 15 to 20 years). You can freeze it and use as a cold pack. One case equals emergency rations of water for one person for up to 40 days.

Great item for storing year round in unheated spaces
Looked at adding water to auto survival kit, but could not find anything that would withstand freezing and thawing until I came across this. I'll put a dozen or so packets under the back seat next to the empty canteen in the survival kit. To my pleasant surprise this 5 year shelf life expires in 10/20.
