No idea what is shelf life...

Posted by Rob on 15th Aug 2022

Decent selection in my box: spaghetti with beef + sauce (2), chicken and noodles w/veggies in sauce (2), chicken burrito bowl (2), beef stew (2), elbow macaroni in tomato sauce (2), beef taco filling (2). These aren't genuine surplus MREs, but rather a bunch of MRE components in a sealed mylar bag. The biggest downside: no packing dates, inspection dates, expiration dates, etc. You have to open up the mylar package and inspect everything to *maybe* get an idea. But then, the contents are exposed. They should at least label the year the main dish expires.

      not quite what I expected.

Posted by Bill on 10th Apr 2020

All the entrees were chili- turkey, beef, and chicken. Not bad tasting but not what was expected. Also there was no side dish unless the pound cake or the cookie pack was the side dish. Also not a lot of quality calories.

      Good stuff, different brand

My only complaint about this product is the items on the second picture are not the items you receive. The entrees included are from the Back Country brand. With that being said, you only get 3 flavors. Beans with Chili, Taco Filling Chicken, and Chicken Chili. The entrees had a decent amount of sodium as well. Each meal came with an entree, jam and crackers, a cookie pack, a dessert pack, either coffee OR tea, heater, and salt and pepper. Calories range from 660 to 980 give or take depending on the entree. Only reason I didn't give this 5 star was the lack of options and the item not being what they had listed on their site.

Great for emergencies. Put them in your pack. The taco meat has a ton of protein. Heater is very hot, and works fast.
