This vintage Bulgarian military canteen is an original individual field canteen dating from the post-WWII era. Bulgaria had been aligned with the Axis for much of World War II before changing sides in 1944, and these later military canteens represent an interesting piece of the country's military history.
Approximately 75 years old, these compact field canteens feature an oval aluminum body with the original wool felt cover, metal cap, attachment hardware and belt clip. The compact shape was designed to carry easily in the field without taking up unnecessary space.
The fitted wool felt cover protects the aluminum body, while the attached cap helps prevent it from being lost. The original rubber gasket remains pliable on Major Surplus's inventory, and the included attachment clip makes it easy to hang the canteen from a belt, pack or other field gear.
Its relatively small profile also makes it convenient to slip into a cargo pocket, day pack, camping bag or military field kit.
